For the Love of Donuts

by TastesSpicy

While I survived the 6 weeks challenge at my gym…I am so sad to say I did not win! Oh the travesty of it all. While I want to scream and say it is unfair, that it is easier for a heavier person to lose the weight more quickly than someone as petite as I am, I cannot complain! The person who won is such a sweet guy! OYE He lost 19 pounds and 4.2% body fat in 6 weeks! Kudos to him.

How much did I lose you ask? I lost 4 pounds and 3.2% body fat. There is no way in this universe I would be able to lose 20 pounds and be considered healthy! That is the problem with these challenges, its unfair to the petite people. The winner and his wife who do work out together said they are using their $500 winning prize to go to Disney World! I don’t know how far that will even get them because I have been to Disney and to pay to park alone will be $500!

My take away for you folks that are trying to lose some pounds…Don’t diet, just try to eat better, than you currently are. Don’t say I need to be down 20 pounds in 5 weeks, set smaller goals, goals that you know you can reach to boost your self esteem, so instead of a 5 week goal, set one in which you want to lose 3 pounds every 7 days. Meal planning is extremely important.

While I am an avid cook and do love cooking, if you do not plan your meals out for the week, there will be days you will be tired and hungry and you will fall back into bad habits. So meal prep. Try doing it on a Sunday for about 2 hours, it is worth it. If you are someone like myself who just cannot eat the same thing for 5 days in a row, switch up your protein and keep your sides. Switch out potatoes and rice for sweet potato.

Instead of a creamy salad dressing, try a vinaigrette instead, huge difference and do not skip on your cheat meal. Always make sure you take one of your meals out of the week and make it your cheat meal. And my last extremely important advice…WATER! Water will become your best friend. No soda, no juice, no Gatorade…just drink water! I bought a 1/2 gallon jug and I keep that with me everywhere I go! I don’t care how crazy I look walking around with my big jug, I drink a gallon of water a day! It makes all the difference in the world. Yes you will be running to the bathroom every 10 minutes, but think of that as getting more exercise in!

Now since I am not eating healthy this week…this is my recovery and cheat week before I jump back into a healthy life style, I made these Donut Holes that I have been craving! I wanted to go big and stuff them with some crazy fillings, but in the end you know what, I just wanted to eat a sugared donut with Nutella, so that’s what I ended up with. You can definitely go crazy and fill with whatever you like.

Until next time…Drink more water!
