Flu Season? Try Fish Soup!

by TastesSpicy

I think it is officially the Flu season! Everyone is coughing, sneezing or plain old irritable!

We have this saying in Trinidad, if you are sick, ginger tea and Fish Broth (broff) will heal every ailment! Yep the first sign of a sneeze, its Fish Soup for you. At least it is in my household.

This is one of the few dishes from Trinidad my Monster will eat. She loves, loves Fish Soup. Does not like Chicken soup, which is weird.

This soup has fresh Red Snapper, macaroni noodles, dumplings, lots of root vegetables and the broth is seasoned just perfectly.

This is not your typical Soup. This is actually an entire meal. You cannot eat after this soup. It is full of nutrients, hence the healing ailment.

If you have a cold, make it spicy to help clear up the sinuses. It will also help the cold to run.

Fresh fish is the right way to go. You can also use chicken instead of fish. But why would you when Fish is so good!

Give it a chance! Make it the way I suggested. You can find all the ingredients in your local grocery stores.

You often have the best of display food containers. Food and health is so much apart of the food we Caribbean islanders grew up with not always knowing why, but only make sense long after you left the wisdom your parents try to convey growing up in the islands.
