Chili

by TastesSpicy

Hey guys! It has been stinking cold and hekk balls here in MN. When I mean cold I mean -22 in the mornings. Like when you walk to your car you nose sticks together when you breathe in.

Nothing beats a good spicy chili on a cold ass day! And trust me we have had our fair share of those the past few days.

What is chili?

By definition chili is a meat based stew with peppers. You can literally add any type and amount of peppers to chili as your heart desires. As long as you can handle the day after in the toilet. The origins of chili really come from south of the border, in South America, however it is still debated today by historians. It is believed to have been popularized in San Antonio in the 1900’s by a group of women who sold a spicy meat stew around the city’s Military plaza.

The term ‘chili’ is short for ‘chili con carne,’ which translates from Spanish as chilies with meat. It’s s simple phrase that most people misinterpret placing more importance on the meat, rather than the chilies. But without chilies, and their integral role in the vast majority of Mexican food, our modern day chili would be little more than a boring bowl of sautéed meat.

The debate between to bean or not to bean.

Today chili has evolved from just a stew of meat to a stew with meat and various beans and vegetables. There is white chili, turkey chili, bean chili, vegan chili, I mean you name it someone has made it!

It really depends on which region you come from that beans are added to the chili. Another reason is your preference. I personally like adding beans to my chili recipe. However a lot of people do prefer mainly adding meats to their chili. In my chili I have added black beans, pinto beans and red beans. The addition of beans gives this chili body and it makes it more filling.

And twist to my chili is the addition of coconut milk which tames the heat of the chili a little. You get that fiery heat in the beginning with a hint of coconut sweetness in the back! And to make sure there is enough meat to go around, there is 6 different types of meats in my chili.

I have won 5 competing with this chili recipe before after all! And now I am sharing it with you all. Check out the video below and remember to subscribe to my YouTube Channel!
