Las Vegas Baby!

by TastesSpicy

I have been MIA once again! This time I was off to Las Vegas. Yes the bright lights, the chimes of the slot machines, the heady smoke from the casinos, the weddings taking place at every turn you make, I took it all in.

I did not go to gamble…and I am not a gambler. It does not bother me in the least. I was happy enough taking in the shows and walking the strip. I had the pleasure of staying at the most beautiful Venetian Hotel! Massive in size! The art work was to die for. The high ceilings was filled with beautiful art work.

From the front desk to the room that I was staying in, it had to be at least a half a mile! I cannot tell you how many times I got lost to go anywhere in that hotel. I got to eat at some of the best steak houses.

I will say however, if you are not going with a group of people to help cover the cost of you room, and to split the cost of food, well I sure hope you are rich! Cause Las Vegas is not cheap! Nothing is cheap there! But it is beautiful!

After staying a full week in Vegas and eating out every day I was craving home cooked food. I just wanted my normal Trini food in my tummy. So I made Bread Fruit Oil Down with Stew Pork! It hit all the right spots!

Now we do not often get Bread fruit where I am, in all my years over here, this is the first time I actually got a good one that melted! If your bread fruit does not melt or soften when it is cooking, then it is too old.

This dish is very starchy and it can be vegetarian or you can add salted meat to it. The fruit itself is grown in the warmer tropical climates on a huge tree. It is also seasonal.

Since i’m your #1 Fan here obviously, Thanks so much for making all these beautiful dishes just for ME! LOL!

Yeah Breadfruit is really hard to find. I recently moved to Pittsburgh PA from NC and how things are even harder to find or know where to find them as yet. I’ve found some unusual things at a big Asian store here in the city downtown including to my surprise Shadow Benni, and almost jumped out of my skin to my surprise. Chinese Celery which i recognize from seeing you use it here also and Dasheen and Yarms. But no Breadfruit. In NC have only ever found that at a Latin American grocery store (Compare Foods) and usually come sealed in plastic wrap. May have to talk to owner of Chinese shop to see if they will carry some Breadfruit. Breadfruit is loaded with Potassium which is good for heart health and more.

But i’d like to know where you found that nice looking Orange Ceramic Pot? I like it.
