Every Country has what the locals call street food. It is food that you can purchase and eat on the go. It is suggested that you do try the local street food whenever you visit a country. It is one of the best ways to taste and experience the local foods.
In Trinidad our most popular street for is Doubles. However we are known for a lot of other street food, like Alloo pies, meta pies, hot dogs, burgers and different types of Roti’s wrapped around any meat or vegetable.
Locally called, Chicken Roti, Shrimp Roti, Potato Roti, Beef Roti…it is all folded like a burrito and wrapped in tin foil or parchment paper and eaten on the go. It is popular for lunch time.
I recently visited Barbados and they are known for Cheffette…OMG…Yummy! It was a fast food restaurant with Roti’s and curries!
Today’s recipe I made to take to the park, to easily be eaten while standing up. I wrapped it at home and wrapped it with tin foil and we ate it like a burrito! The trick is to make sure your filling is not wet or it will make your roti mushy.
