Recipe
2 Hawaiian rolls
1/2 cup of milk
3/4 pounds ground pork
1/2 pound spicy Italian sausage
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup pureed carrots
1/2 cup pureed onion
1 egg
1 tablespoon green onions, chopped
1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped
1/4 cup of bread crumbs
1-2 cups of oil for frying
Directions
In a small bowl, crumble the Hawaiian rolls and add the milk. Using your fingers break down the bread. Set aside for the rolls to soak up the milk.
In another bowl add the ground pork, Italian sausage, salt and pepper. Knead this for 3 minutes.
After kneading, place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, add the pureed carrots, onions, egg, green onions and cilantro.
Knead this together for another 3-5 minutes. place back in the fridge for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, add the bread crumbs and knead again for 3-5 minutes. Place back in the fridge for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, form any sized meat balls you prefer. place on a cookie sheet and place in the fridge for 10 minutes while the oil is heated.
Heat oil to 325 degrees. Fry meatballs for 6 minutes, if it is smaller, fry less time, bigger then more time.
After frying drain on a wire rack over a cookie sheet.
Serve with your favorite spaghetti sauce or as a side dish!
