1 pound of spicy Italian sausage
1 large baking potato, peeled and cubed into 2 inch pieces
1 white sweet potato, peeled and cubed into 2 inch pieces
1 small white onion, cubed
1 clove of crushed garlic
2 piemento peppers (or 1 jalapeno)
5 cup of chicken broth
2 cups of chopped kale, stems removed
1 cup of half and half cream
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
To a hot pot, add the Italian sausage. Break it down and allow it to brown.
Once the sausage has browned, drain the excess fat from the pot. Add onions, garlic and peppers. Saute for 3-4 minutes.
Add in the baking potato and white sweet potato, mix and add the salt and pepper.
Add in the 5 cups of broth. Cover and simmer for 5-8 minutes.
Add in the chopped kale. Cover and cook on simmer for 20 minutes.
Remove the cover and add in half and half cream. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes and remove from the heat.
Serve with freshly baked biscuits!
