2 slices of smoked ham

few sprigs of arugula

sliced brie cheese

4 slices of bread (use a sturdy bread)

1 whole sweet onion, sliced

1 teaspoon oil

pinch of salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar

1 teaspoon butter


To caramelize the onions, heat a frying pan on medium heat. Add oil to the pan and the onions.

Keep stirring it occasionally. This part may take a while. Cook until the onions are soft and brown. Add the sugar and vinegar.

Once it is caramelized remove it from the heat.

To assemble, butter the insides of two slices of bread, add some pieces/slices of brie, then ham, arugula, onions and more brie on top. Put the other slice of bread on top of it.

Butter the top and bottom of the bread.

Grill in a frying pan and weight it down with something heavy, like the bottom of a cast iron pan.  Flip once.

Cut however you like it.
